Practice Handwriting This Summer for Big Payoff This Fall
It’s safe to say that everyone is feeling a big sigh of relief to have made it through this past school year! And we’re all looking forward to the adventures that lie ahead this summer.
While it is nice to sit back and relax during the summer months, summer also provides some extra time for students to begin or continue practicing important skills, such as handwriting.
With the majority of students completing at least part of this past school year online, we have heard from a large number of students they have hardly had to write anything with a pencil this year!
As a result, students have forgotten what some letters look like, and how to write a sentence with correct capitalization and punctuation. In addition, they’re experiencing an increase in hand fatigue and difficulty writing more than a sentence or two! This could have a huge impact on many students when they return to in-person school this fall, with an expectation to handwrite their assignments again.
Luckily, we are at the beginning of summer, and incorporating a few handwriting activities each week into your child’s routine could have a huge payoff when it comes time to return to school this fall!
